Will, Your post about the experience of knowledge covered a few areas including the keys, your equations of how good feelings and knowledge relate to each other. There continues to be a fear with many that one becomes indoctrinated to believe that Maharaji is the only pathway to good feeling. Personally, some of my close friends are people who value the richness of life, strive for awareness, and chose to look within for answers who do not have knowledge nor follow Maharaji. The practice of knowledge is a path one takes on their own. I do not hear anything exclusive being said today that tries to claim the ultimate contentment is only through Knowledge. Even if one did achieve merging with God or the Infinite, how could that really be communicated as what caused that merging experience? Catholic mystics, Buddhists, teachers of non-duality all encourage and point to that, but ultimately one has to make their own journey. Knowledge does provide a way into one’s heart and inner peace, and the resulting well being, clarity, and sense of oneness stays. The personal experience of listening and being with Maharaji is a positive one, as you know, for many people who continue to hear him speak in person. There is a certain energy and fulfillment being in Maharaji’s presence. If one decides to learn from him, then it makes sense to hear him speak and allow him to teach you. The other aspects of practicing Knowledge are positive as well. Once in a flow of that practice, there is grace, heightened awareness, and a greater sense of one’s self. That in turn, I think, makes for a better person to contribute in the business of daily living, with one’s family, work, and social relations. I agree with you, Will, that people should find their own path to peace and love. What more basic encouragement can anyone be offered? The structures you are protesting against are not the experience. The ashram and the changing organizations are not the experience. They are just vehicles for that time to help coordinate an effort of information and introduction to Maharaji. The Keys are meant to offer practical steps to introduce Knowledge in a clear, consistent way. If you peel away all the resentment and predisposed judgment, you will find that the experience of Knowledge is still an experience and not the techniques. It is a good thing, not harmful. It allows for association, support and understanding of others committed to truth and love. Why would it not? For me, as I grow more confident and enjoy Maharaji’s Knowledge, the changes do not bother me as people try to define what he is doing. I wish more can know how real it is, but understand that we are all not meant or intended to carry the same exact expression, party line. Some are more poetic, some appear rigid, some just happy. It’s an individual experience. The essence of life is the magic behind stillness, music, symmetry, love, and growth. ghi |
