Hi CynthiaI am sure that is right. Of course it does not sound reasonable to *you*, nor probably to most people who have been premies and who post here.
But I still maintain that is *does* sound reasonable to most people 'out there', and that is the danger, and that is why I waved my little red flag.
Also, perhaps it is just my style to start out politely agreeing and saying 'yes, very good', and then ask awkward questions. This is also my style even when I am angry - in fact, the madder I get the more polite I am. It is also quite effective with Americans - they either think I am just acting English and superior, which pisses them off, or they don't quite know how to deal with it, so I win either way.
After one argument in our Massachusetts office, I heard one American say angrily to another 'there's nothing like being told to fuck off by a polite English gentleman'. I thought it was quite a compliment!
