The first one would probably only work if the "helping" person was somebody I really trusted, a friend.  And as I said below to Mike, this did happen with a couple of my friends. 

But to tell you the truth, the second one might actually work better.  It might actually have more of a chance of gettng through.  Maybe not, but I don't think it's as clear-cut as you think; that the first is better than the second. 

It is really, really hard to say objectively the truth (even dipolmatically) about Rawat and the belief system, and not sound mocking and belittling.  It just is because it's such a basic thing and the beliefs are just so, well, stupid, and obviously misguided, and Rawat is....well, who he is.

And of course, unless you lie, and pretend that the premie is making sense or that their beliefs hold water, you are going to sound mocking and belittling.
