I personally have a lot of problems with Dr. Phil.  I find him a bit of an egomaniac, and I think he exploits people and their problems on television to further his own career as an entertainer, rather than a therapist, and he takes credit for lots of things he shouldn't.  In some ways, he has become a kind of cult leader.   The way he uses the audience as his personal peanut gallery, and as group pressure,  when doing on-stage therapy, is really unhealthy, IMO. But I have a very positive impression of Steve Hassen and the work he has done on cults.  Modified by Joe at Mon, May 02, 2005, 13:20:43
