He took over the whole town of Elgin, Texas. Why? To fix 'em, one and all. When I saw the audience, they looked like a bunch of scared deer in the headlights. Never disagree with Dr. Phil! He wrote a diet book -- a self-appointed diet guru, with products, too. He's mean and abrupt to people and uses their problems to enrich himself. His son's involved in the family shrinking business in some way, too. I'm not calling Dr. Phil a cult leader, but maybe a pop culture figure. What he does is not therapy, to say the least. He's a regular "guru shrink" on Larry King Live, who also frequently has Deepok Choprah and Marianne Williamson on as "spriritual leaders." I think Larry's getting scared of death, going senile, or both. Oprah's high on my sh*t list lately, too. I liked her a lot and she's done good things, but when she started pushing Dr. Phil on her show, and later became the self-appointed shrink and spiritual advisor to the world, she turned me off. They both sure know how to rake in the bucks, though.
