Joe-I know, it is baffling to hear premies and ex-premies talk about whether or not prem rawat is a good speaker or not....

On the one hand, some premies, usually the ones with less education and experience outside the cult, hang on his every word, credit him with great wisdom upon hearing the latest "hallmark card" snippet of wisdom about life, stand mesmerized in front of the immaculate stage presentation (well lit, very clean, well dressed prem etc.), and believe that he is the greatest speaker in the world in talking about the "real" human condition...basically, no one "tells it like it is' like prem does...

I think in objective terms, he is, to his credit, always well dressed, on time, with a very clean stage. He starts off OK, with some sort of thought provoking statement that is relatable, then within 3-4 minutes, drifts off into uncontrolled ramblings about life, his family, his latest achievements, a hindu one liner from some poet, a few silly jokes, maybe some bathroom humor in the premies only events, a few basic cliches about life, a few observations about how beautiful life Really is, if we could only Really appreciate it, how greatful we should be, how important the master is, how lost we are etc. etc.....for the most part, pretty banal stuff....

I think prem and rush limbaugh employ some of the same tricks in getting their message out:

1-it's a personality cult....everything they say exists in their own vacuum, unchallenged...followers don't challenge them, outsiders see them as one dimensional, uneducated, presenting only one small side of the issue they are talking about...

2-they have a "presence" down, that gives them appearance of having some profound message, while it is utterly simplistic and contradictory...(I think this is the most important one)

3-they make 2 or 3 points in an hour, which could easily be made in 5 minutes...

4-they are full of themselves, with sycophantic followers, who hang on their words, and then repeat them...

5-no one is allowed to dialog or debate them, as this will cause an immediate puncture in the hot air balloon that is their world view.....

6-both are quite uneducated, and are way out of their league, in talking about the subjects they purport to take on...hence, they always speak on their own terms, never a debate...(although rush does take callers, which sometimes can be challenging...can you imagine prem doing his own radio show?--who knows, maybe he will, when he can't fly anymore, right from his own home, on the web...)

7-both are fat, rich,  and appear to be quite poor at handling normal relationships...rush hides when off air, prem hangs out with followers and bosses them around...

Basically, I think they are both good at projecting great self importance and assurance, while both being very insecure and having very little to back it up with...when they are out of their medium, they are like fish out of water, and probably live very little of what they preach about...
