I have a slightly different viewpoint but it's not based on any official DLM figures of course. I think the actual numbers peaked around 1980 just before it was all shut down. In 1978 & 79 I think at least 20,000 premies came to Kissimmee and weren't there less than that at Millenium? Plus by then it wasn't quite such a revolving door.

Being far away from the centre of things I wasn't even aware of a 'fear' card. It seemed to me that the "get high" path segued into the 'path of devotion' with only the Mishler 1976 stumble: Perfect Master becomes charity worker and let's do folk dancing instead of meditation, or some such crap. That was never going to fly. Bhakti Yoga, on the other hand, will always find an audeince.
