Neurobiology. I looked-up the definition. That's quite a hobby!! It sure beats A & E, working on D.

"We can start with Prem himself. Clearly his family and early childhood environment played a giant role in making him into what he has become."

Prem strikes me as an egregious example of what early childhood circumstances can spawn. Suffice it to say... enough said.

"Even if that is not reversible it isn't inevitable."

Thank you for that. Again, as others have said, not all of the abused go on to become abusers. To the contrary, some develop great care, concern and empathy for the plight of the abused. It begs the question... what are the mechanisms that trigger the different outcomes?

In Prem's case, it's hard for me not to suspect a generous element of conscious choice, which is another way of saying it was far from just the involuntary psychological effects of whatever those determining mechanisms/triggers may have been.

Anyway, that's too heavy for this early hour. On a lighter note, your post made me look-up the difference between a psychopath and a sociopath. To my great relief, I took the quiz and didn't qualify for either.
