Gerry mentioned that at one time there had been an ashram in Harrisburg, which I don't ever recall. It reminded me that there were communities where the cult communities never took off for some reason and where there were never ashrams, or only had ashrams briefly like:
Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dallas, Baltimore, New Orleans, Honolulu, Anchorage, Rochester, Burlington (anything in Vermont), New Hampshire, Delaware, Memphis, Nashville, St. Louis, Omaha, Des Moines, Las Vegas (oh, yeah!), Albuquerque, Charlotte (anything in North Carolina), South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Salt Lake (the Mormons would have LOVED it), Pittsburgh, Richmond, Jacksonville, Tampa, Louisville, Austin, Sacramento....
A lot of these are in the South, so that makes sense, (conservative Christian) but any ideas why that was?
