The comments about Dr Phil are quite interesting. I have to admit and be honest, I recently watched his show and enjoyed it. I missed the significant points everyone made here, about his exploitative, cultic approach. I can't believe I got manipulated into enjoying, and appreciating, his show..... I now see all the cult dynamics since it was pointed out by everyone.
When I watched the show, it was about a man who had deceptive affairs with 40 women, and he was still with his wife, so I was biased against this guy, like the audience. But I'm sure in real psychotherapy, a whole lot would have been revealed. This guy was demonized by Phil and his audience.
Anyway, just a note to say thanks to everyone for helping me see this better.
