I have heard from several people, that around 1983 or so, Rawat actually thought about quitting being the Perfect Master, perhaps retiring etc.  I guess his marriage was falling apart, Raja Ji's had already fallen apart, and he was in a kind of "oh-god-Mata Ji-was-right" mode.

I don't know whether this lasted very long, but this does seem to be a period of self-doubt.  It also coincides with a period in which he pretty much wirthdrew from playing the role.

Do you know anything about this?
