Not that I heard of, but I don't have that gene. Never seen a broadway musical in my life. But I did see a theatre play recently called "Heroes of the 20th Century". It was also a musical with Hitler in it. It was all performed with puppets. I know that sounds stupid, and I was pretty sceptical, but I have to say it was best best best thing I've seen in a long time. I would even say it was one of the best things I've ever seen. Every aspect of it was impeccable.

The puppets themselves looked amazing. In addition to Hitler there was Mussalini, Roosevelt, Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky, JFK, Marolyn, Mohammed Ali and about 50 other characters. Each were hand made. There was a backup band and three girls worked the puppets, did all the voices and sang. The one girl who did most of the puppet voices and acting is also the one who made them. She was absolutely brilliant. There were also scenes where the puppets were filmed live and then projected on a large screen which had a strange effect. Suddenly you found yourself taking the puppets more seriously and the mood became more poignant. Then you would look down and see the girl moving the puppet again and once more realize they were "just" puppets. In addition the screenplay and the songs were intelligent and funny. The whole piece was very provocative and the silliness of the puppets made it more so. This was especially the case because the girls were simultaneously witty but also concentratedly lavish and precise in their choreography of the puppet movements.

When it was over I felt like the talent, preparation and energy of the performers and musicians was at least as much as any elaborate opera that I have seen.

So yes, we have our own musicals with Hitler here, to answer your question.

And just to get back off topic to the free speech issue, swaztikas are illegal here. I've always wondered what they do to nazi skinheads who have them tattooed. Also of course swaztikas are allowed as commentary, historical example and a bunch of other things I suppose. Germany in general has more complicated laws than anywhere else, so I can only imagine what the law concerning the use of swastikas must look like. Pages and pages...
