This is really how we got completely suckered in wasn't it. It's very clear reading these things again after all this time. He wanted absolutely everything that we were, total control, so that we would be nothing without him. Imagine what it must be like to desire so much control over the lives of others. This must be why he gets so frustrated and angry (and spiteful) because it never really happens for him - I think he actually did want the whole world at his feet. And we thought that was a good idea at one time- the horror, the horror.
