Hurricane Ian is a category 4 and that's so dangerous.

I hope everyone in Florida is safe and sound.

I cannot imagine what it would be like to see my home blown away to God know where, along with all my possessions.

I could never live in a place where that event was a possibility.

Oh well, it's so goddamned hot down there in the summer that's enough to drive me out of there.

And humid.  We've been having 65 deg days, clear skies, and heavenly air.

Love, Cynthia

Cynthia,

I was just thinking today of the people in Florida and Ukraine and how difficult it must be for them.

But, then I realized that I live in California and I could get wiped by fire or earthquake.

I saw pictures on the news, Florida has been hit bad hasn't it.

When I was buying a house my first priority was not vulnerable to fire flood or tsunami.  Most of Australia is vulnerable to fire or flood and I have felt very lucky to be sitting pretty through it all but now, with another year of flooding ahead we are worrying about mud slides - I have a little pool of ground water in the cupboard under the stairs, the water table has risen a lot but not that much, I'm on a hill, it's the water running underground.

I am still more scared of drought, though probably even more scared of what people can do.
