I just had to finish it - 9 hours, 5 coffees and 2 cans of coconut water later....

I'm having trouble getting a good photo but here's more

Nice! How big is it? Is it just clay or something inside to hold it all up?
yes clay, air inside, a little bit less than a foot high.she'll be white when fired. It's a grainy clay which makes it able to stand up better than a fine clay but yes it has been a tough build, I let it stand for too long and she dried out at one stage and I wrapped her in wet towels and then left it too long and she fell down - she's had three hip breaks in all. I have no idea how I stood for 9 hours and I am still recovering - I keep falling asleep. I missed my bridge game with my brother this evening. we were very disappointed.
I'm building a bowl next and then I will be firing the kiln. so finger's crossed, though I really won't mind too much if she cracks a bit, I am keeping her.

9 inches high 12 inches across. one more bowl to make before firing.

It's taken me a long time to get back on the roll with the clay, it feels good and I have started the next bowl, but it will be the litmus test of my viability, as I am so sad with my lovely old cat getting near the end. she is under the banana trees now, I have built her a shelter, she is in good spirits, keen to eat but not managing much, getting very thin. The best thing is milk with an egg yolk and a little sugar in it - I went and got fried fish for her yesterday but she has only eaten little bit.
Point of historical interest, sort of - one of the snuggly things in her shelter is a woollen shawl my grandfather knitted when he was in hospital recovering after the first world war. Does the job, no cold wind can get through such thick Scottish wool.

Sorry to hear about your cat. How old is she?
she is a bit over 17 years old, and she hasn't had a good meal yet but she is amazing, she has recovered movement and been running around this morning in the sunshine like a young thing - I think she wanted to catch a mouse but you know just looking very happy.

Wow, she is one old cat. Hope she keeps pushing on.

thanks, yes, I hope so too. she is a mix of breeds - tabby and black and white as well as the shorter lived burmese. she could live into her twenties or this might be her time to go, not sure at the moment. she is in the best of spirits and comes running for a cuddle, tail waving but just a small slurp of warm milk later she wants to have a nap. She is a lovely little cat and mainly she wants the cuddles. The shelter I built under the bananas is holding up well, despite the cold wind she is warm in her nest.

still happy and eating a bit now.

yes, she is still bouncing around but tbh I don't think she has a long way to go. I got her from the shelter at the vets. she was only 7 weeks old but had already been operated on by a vet student and it was a botch job. and then she had a run in with a possum. her belly was opened by the possums claw and she lost a whole flap of flesh over her tummy so you know she's always been a fussy eater - leaving the bits behind and slurping up the sauce. I had this idea to use a blender and break up some fish into some stock and milk. Nope, it still gave her discomfort. now I come back with some tuna - tuna sashimi is her favourite food and I squidged little bits of fish off the sinews so it is melt in the mouth. omg she loved it and then the next thing she is sitting motionless like a sphinx in the cold on top of her shelter.
