Man arrested in Mallorca town on suspicion of infecting 22 people with Covid-19

God, why are people so fucking fucked up? What's wrong with us? Human extinction? Yeah, we probably deserve it when it happens.

Here's some of the juicy quotes:

(CNN)A man in the town of Manacor on the Spanish island of Mallorca has been arrested on suspicion of infecting 22 people with Covid-19, according to the Spanish National Police.

"Despite having symptoms and having done a PCR test, he continued his normal life without waiting for the result or quarantining," police said of the suspect in a tweet on Saturday.

Authorities added that the 40-year-old man "came to work with a 40°C fever [104°F] according to his colleagues. He was coughing loudly all over the place, lowering his facemask, while saying: 'I'm going to give you all the coronavirus.'"

yes, what a horrible story.  such a lot of needless suffering created by needless malicious act.  and of course this is the tip of the iceberg.  my sister in law once said to me that evil is petty and that is what she meant - it took me a few more years to recognise because it is foreign to my nature - you live and you learn as they say.  Like Leonard Cohen said all those years ago the war is already over and the bad guys won.  We are not the first generation to recognise that but I do believe we have reached a tipping point where the preponderance of petty acts of malice sends us shooting along to the end of our society - but not necessarily the end of our species.  from an intergalactic viewpoint we could be like a petrie dish in which a super bug is forming.

I wonder if watching too much YouTube nonsense is warping my thinking towards mankind.

The problem has to be how much of the growth of people's idiotic behavior is moving us closer to a complete meltdown across the board. There's a lot of crazy people trying to get control of the levers of governments across the world.

Oh, never mind me. I'm just getting apocalyptic like when I was a much younger person.

And a bizarre point I'd like to make is whether a catastrophic outcome could be avoid if --- fill in the list. What would it take to snap enough people out of their improper worldviews to have a noble and healthy view of the world where we stopped harming the world and ourselves. It just seems like we're hell bent for destruction of everything like the environment. We'll never agree to change the energy equation for everybody.

Heading out on the conspiracy limb and having been in a cult myself, does the world need some kind of God to rule?

Ok. Signing off after watching the Sunday morning interview shows

Does the world need some kind of God to rule?  as if Elon Musk ruling the world would be just peachy?

idk if this is true or not but apparently he is in the process of putting a band of satellites around the Earth and the astronomers are upset.

I'm upset too if it is true.  Or I would be if I didn't have too much else to be upset about.

It's genetics, drek - can't turn back time can't reverse the results of what has already taken place.  like a fly caught in a web, attempts to try just deepen the catastrophe.

Tolkein's story holds water.

I live on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.  And the feeling I have is very much how fragile it is - the helicopters fly up the shoreline, the container ships are on the horizon, the rainforest is degraded, there are too many people with all our roads lights noise and buildings and yet all I can realise over and over is the magic is only felt there in the natural world.

Yes you can say we are destroying the branch we are sitting on and it's a fact but it is a blanket fact that covers up a more complex picture of humanity where it can be seen that some people are destructive but not all of us.  so I guess that always brings the hope that the good in people will prevail given time or that the natural world will prevail - doesn't look good though does it!

Yep, Elon Musk is launching a lot of satellites in his Starlink project that brings Internet access to, like, everywhere via a little dish in your yard or mounted on your house.

He has permission to launch up to 30,000 satellites and initially is shooting for about 12,000.

well there goes the neighbourhood.  How in heck does he get permission to pollute the skies like that.  oh I guess the same way our councils have got permission to sell off our foreshores.

so here is my little Tesla story.  I bought a Tesla solar battery.  and when it was installed the technician installed a Tesla app on my phone.  There is nothing physical to show you what is going on with the battery you need the app.  So one day my app doesn't recognise my sign in anymore.  I try and try and reset password umpteen times, I go on the Tesla website and try all the help or contact links, all to no avail.  So I contact the people who installed the battery and was lucky to link up with Lydia the lovely lady who will not rest until my app is restored to working order.  Finally we reach this position - now get this - we have been given advice by Tesla to delete app and reinstall it but it doesn't delete.  You cannot delete their app.  Once installed there it is on your phone.  I was able to update it but not delete and it still didn't work.  well yesterday, because they are in business with Tesla, Lydia was able to get a phone number to ring.  I rang the number and got an American voice on the line.  He revived my access by giving me a Tesla password.  I am now a happy customer, right?

well I am still happy with the battery but Elon Musk has gone up the list of potential doomsday bringers.  Not just the non-deleting app, not just the stinky satellite attack but also the fact that he's so darn popular.

oh another thing about that app - all Tesla customers have the same app, whether it be a car or a solar battery you go through the same portal.

It's not just the degradation of our environment well destruction is probably a more accurate word, it's us.  Obviously it is hard to tell, but it seems to me that our species has issues above and beyond other animals.

It's the middle of the night and I am awake with a cup of tea and the cat curled up beside me.  Cats are really good at sleeping aren't they.  I woke up thinking about the pain people feel in the intimacy of their families, I think that's what woke me up.  I am pretty good at sleeping too.  Had a nice cup of tea, feeling sleepy now, getting ready to return to the fold...
