I got re-introduced to music by my new tenant today.  It started with a discussion about the weather - if it's not raining, you're sweating, she's fresh up from the temperate zone of Melbourne - it's called muggy weather I said and she said people don't write songs about muggy weather, and I said Under The Mango Tree, by The Pigram Brothers, and we live under a mango tree, so do they or they grew up under one in Western Australia, they really are brothers.  I found some of their music on youtube and we are listening to it and she goes and gets a little cube thing and it sounds amazing coming through that and you know I am listening to my favourite band.

Have you listened to Petracor, she asks.  I have no idea what she's saying, it's like she's speaking a foreign language half the time, I haven't heard of a single one of the musicians she talked about and I am very uncertain if I will like it, and I am worried it will be too cultie and I don't want my brain zapped but she gently persisted and I liked every single thing she had picked, including  Red Indian thing, I now have a a whole playlist.  here's one from the start, middle and end.

so yes, it's been years since I listened to music.  It's been a wonderful experience.

okay so that seems to be working, you just have to skip ads.

I forgot to put the names -
              Petracor by Ludovico
              Spirit Bird by Xavier Rudd
Stoned on Shiva by Steve Gold

so it is a few days later now and I have listened to more of their music and realised I was lucky to have the songs picked out for me.  and also was struck by the recognition that this music I am enjoying so much really is Om man e pad me hum territory

I went to town and bought a little JBL and bumped into an old friend from premie days in the supermarket - it was a real pleasure and we had quite a long chat and he said I was one of the earliest to leave and I said I was ostracised and vilified and he said he was sorry that had happened and I said I had been listening to music and it made me realise you really are my kind of people.

It was nice to be able to have that exchange.

If I had stayed quiet as in not spoken out publicly I would likely still be friends with them but I wouldn't be who I am - things get more specific don't they and it has been a privilege to meet the people on this forum.  I know we gone quiet, that's okay, we're getting older now.

He said he would rather concentrate on his breath than his thoughts.  Oh no I replied I like my thoughts.  oh goodness that demonising of the mind was awful wasn't it.  so glad to have made up with my mind again.

I took my JBL down to the studio.  it was good, and I got going again with the mermaid. Hopefully I will post a pic when I finish her.
