That hat lasted 2 Atlantic crossings and my whole time in the Caribbean. It was getting dilapidated, then the dog finished it off. It'll rot down nicely and go on the vegetable beds eventually.

Yes, someone else might help me eat my hat, but most people would rather do that than consider what else went into the heap.

oh yes that's right you've got the enriched heap.  I'm envious.  I have given up on getting a good compost heap going as the scrub turkeys always dig it up.  I've now got multiple little heaps all along the beds.  For some reason this is beneath their attention.  But you just don't get the nice rapid break down and delicious stuff to make potting mix from.
