Trump's followers are displaying the same awful cognitive dissonance that we as ex-cult members are only too familiar with.   Easier to suppress it and stick with the beliefs that gave us hope in a supreme leader who would save us, despite how many  lies and how much manipulation he did.   

This is just like Trump, except that Trump and handers have the power to destroy a country and all its people, and, actually, the world.  Our former cult leader merely had the power to destroy his individual followers and some innocent family members.  (And that was obviously bad enough....)

I have a friend who's keeping a diary of Trump-and-Co daily lies starting on the Inauguration, as well as of his anti-people, anti-environment actions, such as signing an executive order increasing costs for first-time home buyers, as he did right after he was inaugurated.
