Obama Admin decided not to do usual veto. I'm not sure what to think since I've never been to that area of the world. Any opinions? I saw this comment...."Nut an yahoo is an ASSHOLE for disrespecting the President of the US and the Office of the Presidency.. Stop funding to the Jews and get the hell out of the middle east. Let Isreal go it alone and then those whiny bastards will start wanting to negotiate peace.
Happy Festivus everyone.

I've never much liked Netanyahu. He's not a warm cuddly Prime Minister...however, we have to ask why the Israeli people vote for him again and again. They may not like him but they feel safer with his uncompromising approach. When blanket statements are made about the Israelis " occupying " Palestinian territory, we are never reminded WHY they have done this. This was land "occupied" after a war when Israel was invaded by foreign troops. They feel they have to keep the land to ensure their security. They didn't invade, they were invaded. Look at a map. Israel is a tiny country surrounded by enemies ( ie muslim nations who are exhorted by the Koran to hate Jews above all other "infidels".The Koran also gives Muslims permission to lie ,if it is in Allah's cause.)
Netanyahu trusts no one and that seems to suit the Israeli people. All very well for Americans and the UN security council to pontificate, but they are not living in a tiny country , always having to be on full alert, surrounded by those who wish them harm.

but I have no idea. Anger, to me, seems like what politicians sell here. Many in the Southern US still call it the War of Northern Aggression as opposed to the Civil War of the 1860's. Nixon in the late 60's and Reagan in 80 sold this anger....and here we are

Why do you say you have no idea? You must have some idea otherwise you wouldn't have headlined the UN resolution. I can't see the connection between the American civil war & the Siege of Israel, & what is 'this anger' that Nixon & Reagan sold....
There's no clear reason why outsiders should take sides in someone else's dispute, but it seems we humans have great difficulty in doing otherwise. For myself, I took the side of Israel nearly 50 yrs ago, as a result of heated adolescent conversations with my uncle John. He'd been a soldier in Burma in WW2 & reckoned he'd never have got back alive if it hadn't been for the way General Orde Wingate looked after his men. Before the war Wingate had been in the Palestine Protectorate & had set up the Jewish defence force which became the IDF after independence. Moshe Dayan was one of his proteges. I've never seen any good reason since to change my mind, despite finding out much later that Wingate's private world view was one I would now categorise as insane.
It isn't a perfect world.

I love Bibi. I think he's a brave, honest and extremely sharp warrior for Israel and I'm sure that he's got a lovely sense of humour when he's not deflecting blows from his so-called friends as well as enemies.

I think he's an arrogant asshole, but, sure I too could enjoy beer with anyone(almost)

Jim I have to say , I think you're pretty warped bro. Visiting Bob's birthplace, posing at the corner of Haight and Ashbury, and then at a Trump golf course sign leaves me scratching my head. Embracing hippie history won't cleanse you of all the hatred you spew out here, but Happy New Year Man!
