Like PatD, my first thought was Rome. Then Millennium, which was a dud and I'm glad I missed it. Then, as Swimming Free suggested, maybe the outdoor Kissimmee events? None were very big... they just seemed like it at the time because they boosted my feeling of validation for such drastic life decisions.
Actually I'm replying because of the darshan line donations. I mentioned awhile ago that in about 1977, initiators were handing out premies' darshan line gifts randomly to ashram premies. I still have the one given to me hanging on a wall.
That's because if valued by sincerity, they were priceless -- just like your cards and flowers.
