The initial invitations to join the premie chat forum (linked on the forum index page) were sent to the TPRF and/or Inspire mailing list, so the owners appear to 'officially' connected. Initially the site was fairly open but now you need to register to even read the discussions, and new applicants have to prove that they are genuine active premies before they are allowed to read anything but the intro chatroom.

Once in, any discussion of the details of practicing Knowledge, or devotion to Maharaji, is actively discouraged, so it's mainly general chitchat, or attacks on ex-premies.

John.

Geo,

Thanks for the thanks, and I'll gracefully accept my share, but the bulk of the thanks should go to the founders, previous webmasters, and all the contributors.

BTW, I'd give it up in an instant if someone else came along with the essential qualifications. These are:-

1. They want to do it.
2. I trust them to keep the site up no matter what.
3. They have the minimum technical skills for the job.
4. Their livelihood and that of their families cannot be jeopardised by the inevitable dirty tactics, libel, smear campaigns, etc., that premies engage in.

Any applicants? Seriously.

John.

But how long since I have sent a contribution? I would like to send one a year. Is there a way to get a reminder?

Since we were always so coerced in the cult about money I know it is hard to ask when you need it. I hink I will send one today I think it has been about a year. Maybe I could just look at the nice thank you notes you always send.

Susan,

The main costs for EPO are due in January, and I used to post a request for donations on the forum, but two years ago was the tsunami so I asked people to donate for the relief effort instead, and last year a few 'big donors' covered the costs before I could ask.

Pity you don't quite meet the qualifying criteria to be EPO webmaster.

John.

I saw Susans' post concerning donations to keep the site going.  Could you help me understand what the monies are allocated to and what a reasonable donation would be to support the work?  How many people have donated in the past?  If there is excess over and above hard costs how is that allocated?  (btw:  I personally have no problem paying a webmaster for time to administer a site...)

Stephen,

Firstly, we are only talking about the costs for the three websites, ex-premie.org, ex-premie2.org and ex-premie3.org. Athough there are some differences in content these are mirror sites, and were set up after ex-premie.org was shut down for two weeks in 2002 by an illegal 'denial of service' attack. There used to be ex-premie4.org but I closed that down last January as I felt it was no longer needed. All the other ex-premie sites, including this forum, are privately funded.

So, the costs for the three EPO sites are domain name registrations and hosting costs. Last year the total was about US$750. When I post a request for funds on the forum (which I haven't done for almost three years), on average about 15 people have donated each year. Without such a request, it's about 5. A couple of years there was a small excess and I put that towards the cost of software to help manage the sites, and my internet costs (at the time I was paying local call costs for my internet time - now it's a fixed, much lower, monthly rate).

Thanks for your comment about paying for a webmaster's time, but it would cause me too much emotional confusion!

John.

GEO,

You've already been reading here for a few weeks and, I can tell, John's tired.  There's really no one else now, bud.  Can we say perhaps by, say, the middle of August?  I hear you don't have to do much, mind you I wouldn't really know.
