With temperatures over 30C and humidity hitting 90% this is definitely the time of year to see Rawat in India. Still even the EV holiday promotion team have recognised that in these conditions there may not be too many takers for RVK's tent village so the event is being sold as a hotel only deal:

I am intrigued and puzzled to see that the Delhi Hotel prices are about the same as a hotel where I live on the South Coast of England.I know the standard of living is improving rapidly in India. Is it no longer a third world country? Those prices are for 4 nights and breakfast, so even the 3 star hotel is comparable to where I live.

I went on one of those premie Indian tours 15 years ago.It was quite expensive but not that pricey.

The hotels EV have teamed up with are probably rather more highly rated than comparably priced UK facilities. The reason behind this choice is almost certainly part of a PR/Marketing strategy that Rawat is now following. Someone has undoubtedly pointed out that 80% of EV income comes from just 20% of premies and it is that 20% segment that Rawat and EV should be catering for.

It all makes good business sense and has the advantage of making the operation much more controlable - only minimal exposure to the lower income premies who might be experiencing a disenchantment with their lives and the failure of Knowledge to make every thing OK.

......the hotels we stayed in 15 years ago were very clean and pleasant.

....obviously it's also important that visitors don't fall ill with Dehli belly, hepatitis etc as that certainly isn't good PR.

Before I stepped out of years and years of denial I used to think this ( EV providing such expensive but good hotels) was because Rawat cared about us so much.

What is useful advertising however is for the Indian premies to see the Western premies at the programmes as they are DEFINITELY very impressed by this.

btw don't click on the "Registration" link which follows on from the hotel publicity . I did and it's f##ked up my computer which is now jammed half way on that site! GRRR!
