That's The Dazzler *
Satsang of Durga Ji, Pacific Guru Puja, Capitol Theatre, Sydney Australia. October 18, 1975. Jai satchitanand premies. It's really wonderful to be here as it is no matter where we go. It's just always a beautiful experience to come where we have all gathered together to have satsang and to have Marahaj Ji's darshan. We used to say Los Angeles was our home but more and more it's not really our home - there's nowhere that's really home, this whole world is our home, and it's really beautiful because this world is really man's home. We separate ourselves by saying we are Australian, we are American, we are European, we are black, we are white, we are rich, we are poor. Really we are just mankind and this world is our home and now Guru Maharaj Ji has come to show us why we are here. It's so beautiful to know that we have this secret and it's so beautiful to be in this secret, to be in meditation. By Guru Maharaj Ji's Grace, when we are in meditation and we are experiencing Knowledge, there's just nothing like it, you know? It's like hard to imagine our lives without Knowledge now that we have experienced this supreme experience. It's like Maharaj Ji was talking about mind and how mind is really such a tricker, such a dangerous thing and it is potentially dangerous because it robs us of the most precious experience that we can have and it's continually there to rob us, to take us away because the mind is the thing that wants power. If you ask any man who doesn't have Knowledge, what he would want, he would probably say power, power is the thing that I want. Power is the thing that has corrupted this whole world and the mind will always continue to want this power because it thrives on it. But then Knowledge comes and Knowledge is all powerful, Knowledge is the power that is creating and sustaining this whole universe, this whole creation. It is power itself and when the mind can be merged in that power there's no problem. Then Guru Maharaj Ji comes and he, he says, "Listen, take my hand" and he goes, "Stand up. If you stand up," really because we are nice and tall, "You don't have to be wallowing in the gutter. Just stand up and step over here a little bit, walk over here. "And there's some beautiful roses growing and beautiful trees and flowers and blossoms and if you stand up you can smell this. You don't have to be down there in the gutter. It's there, but this is not where you belong". Where we belong is with him. Where everything that we smell and see is beautiful and sweet this is Knowledge. Maharaj Ji talks a lot about sharks. Sharks just seem to be a subject that has come up a lot. He said in satsang in South America, the mind is a shark and it's very unpredictable and we can't really say for sure what that shark is going to do at any given moment. We don't know. Maybe it will just swim around or maybe right when you think it's swimming around doing nothing it comes right in for an attack and then what do you do? When your leg has gone, what do you do? You know it's a little late to take that situation back and it's like that shark has the capability to completely destroy a man swimming in the water. Yet Maharaj Ji, out of his infinite Grace, has come and said "Listen, I can give you something to protect yourself with". Because, this is the situation that we are in. We have mind, we have this shark and it's just a menace and we know that. It's like he has given us weapons to arm ourselves, to guard ourselves. And as long as we have the those weapons in our hand and we are using them, the shark is not going to come around because he's smart and he knows he can't exist as long as you have got that weapon to destroy him with. So if we have this weapon, we would be very foolish if we didn't use it. Because then it's like we are completely unarmed. But if we have this weapon, this Knowledge: there's satsang, that is one bullet and there's service, that is another and meditation that is the quickest, the fastest because at any second we can just be in meditation and if we have those arms with us that shark is not going to come around. But as soon as we drop them, as soon as soon as we let them go, zoom - he's right there and he's just right there ready and waiting for an attack. This is the situation and we are very fortunate premies to have this Knowledge as our weapon and we see the world and really the world is getting crazier, and crazier, and crazier, because man is letting mind get stronger, and stronger, and stronger. We see it, we don't have to have any particular example called to our attention because it's so prevalent, no matter where we go. It's like the heat is being turned up and man is getting more jumpy and more edgy and more crazy. We are so fortunate to have this Knowledge and it's our duty now to go and tell others that there is some kind of weapon that can chase away that shark that keeps following us. It's always possible to just completely wipe out that shark. Maharaj Ji's done it. There is no shark following him around. He is satsang, meditation and service and the embodiment of that and he is our example. And Maharaj Ji said it's easy, you can do it, it's not something that is a goal that is never going to happen. It's right now. It's like we were walking along this dirty old gutter all our life and we were just, "What is this life all about? It's just terrible, it just stinks, it's just rotten, it's just dirty, filthy filth that we are walking in". And we are just crawling on our hands and knees and we are crying out, "Why, why? God help me. Why am I suffering? There's just got to be more". We don't have to be in maya. We don't have to be just suffering through the stink of the world mind that's here. We can stand now and maybe we will fall do but if we fall it's just to remind us "Wow! It's still there" And just get out of it and stand up. And smell the sweet rose of Knowledge and it's always blooming, it's always giving fragrance, it's so incredibly beautiful. So we have that opportunity, premies, and really we are the most fortunate human beings in this world because Maharaj Ji has given us this whole world. Anywhere we go we can be in this vibration. Sometimes it hard because we get distracted but even though there are so many distractions we can practise and practise and practise not to be distracted. Like a child comes into this world like Premlata, she goes from one toy to another and as soon as she gets a new one it's really thrilling and it's really neat but she discovers it. Really just looks at it as much as she can and pretty soon she's not really interested in it any more and she throws it out and goes for something else. We all did this, everyone of us when we children. We just grew up but continually did this throughout our lives. Man goes from one thing to another, cars and bikes and surfboards and stereos and everything is still like a toy. And we get go through and go through until finally we reach the point where nothing is really that good (more and nothing is really the thing we are looking for until we receive Knowledge and then we see everything is just a finite toy. Something man has made to playwith to entertain himself, but the mind is not really satisfied with it because there is nothing so fascinating as Knowledge. This Knowledge is the most fascinating thing for the mind because it can't figure it out. It never can figure out Knowledge because Knowledge is infinite and that's the thing that you all really need. That's the dazzler that we have been looking for. There are so many jewellers and they are enthralled by jewellery and precious stones because they are beautiful, they really dazzle the eyes. But what about this meditation? What about the light that we see, not with these eyes? There's nothing really more dazzling than that and it's something that is completely infinite and completely glorious. Like Maharaj Ji said, we are not doing him a favour by taking the weapon to shoot the enemy. He's doing us the favour by giving it to us and it really doesn't make any difference if you use it or not but it makes a difference to us, you know. And so premies, there is so much to say but I feel like it's getting late and there's a big day tomorrow. Tomorrow is really a very special day because we can have darshan of our Lord and so I think we should just end right now with one big beautiful song of praise to our Lord.
