So I came across a kind of interactive friends blog-o-sphere which contained the musings of one of Rawat's kids (now a beautiful young lady).  I guess what struck me was how "normal" it was - her appreciation for her dad's message; her wonderful and interesting and creative friends; her appreciation for an eclectic selection of music and bands; her interest in meditation and yoga and art and enviro issues; in other words a fun-loving young adult enjoying the prime of her life.

While I think that is great I couldn't help but think how my own youth was bizarrely splintered by the hand of her father.  Instead of being liberated by Prem's message I was actually in a form of bondage.  Instead of feeling the freedom to continue my travels and education and youthful adventures I felt that I had to surrender, devote and dedicate.  Instead of enjoying my friends and family and partying I was in the ashram.  Instead of continuing to play and enjoy the music that I liked I was singing Arti and devotional songs.  Instead of letting my freak-flag fly I was donning polyester.

For many, ashram rules and/or Rawat's dictates slowly stripped away individuality and eroded creativity and free-spiritedness.   Like "One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest" our independence was broken down - it seems there was always someone like a Nurse Ratched making sure we took our/did our meds; were not chit-chatting; were remembering holy name; or were never leaving room for doubt in what was left of our minds.

Well, I did gain my independence back.  I am enjoying a rich and varied life with my creative pursuits and friends and family.  But in reading on that blog I was reminded of the damage done and how much healing and growing it took to get my life back.  I'm grateful that people today succumbing to Rawat at least are not having to undergo the extreme rigors that most of us were subject to.   But he still doesn't want to be responsible or be accountable for what he did.   And while many of the overt physical "trappings" of the cult have been removed, the inner conceit - the seed of the cheat and deceit remain.  So he's a charlatan - no matter how benign it may now all seem by comparison.

just my space daya malibu as keywords. It's a pretty girl who actually looks a lot like Navi. But she says she went to high school in North Carolina and college in Florida. I think it is a premie child also named Daya. Someone who has seen her more recently can verify it but I just don't think the girl needs to be linked here.

This my space thing is very popular in that age group.

No, it's actually the guru's daughter. She got her diplomas in other states but studied from home. Among her favourite books, you'll find Clarity, written by you kno who and edited by many more.

Ok, she seems sweet. But she's still playing the hostess at Daya's. At 27, people can think. She has chosen to live in the Land of LaLa.

She is a pretty girl, looks like her cousin a lot. I would love to see pics of all the kids grown up. I am not excusing anything they do to help the cult. But I can't help being curious about them. Gosh I bet even Amar is now older than his father was when he was born , or at least close.

.....and seem happy and well adjusted.Until comparitively recently they sometimes appeared with their Father in a casual part of a video ( walking around together or whatever ) and Daya sometimes sings onstage at a programme. She's lovely but has her Dad's weight problem.

I think they have grown up surrounded by the cult ,cultishness, the worship of their father as well as weird PAMS sycophantically pandering to them........not to mention incredible privilege.

I've no doubt that they are thoroughly thought reformed but have no inkling of this, or of the reality of their father's dangerous and exploitative circus.

There are some of those around here. A fun farmer is a rich man who subsidises his farm out of the proceeds of his other businesses. They live in immaculately restored farmhouses with all the latest machinery to hand, & have sidelines in such exotica as llamas, ostriches, buffalo etc. They rarely do any harm & often some good , but they are rightly regarded as a joke by the real farmers who struggle to produce the food whilst neck deep in shite & debt.

The only time I saw Daya perform, it struck me that she was using the occasion as a substitute for having to start off down & dirty in some lowlife bar.

I won't go into the other things which struck me about that : suffice to say that if daddy wasn't able to provide a ready made audience..........

It says her name is "Dayalita" not Dayalata.

Also, it doesn't look like her to me, unless she slimmed down a lot.  Dayalata has a very strong resemblance to Prem and Mata Ji -- very large, round face.  But, it has been a few years since I saw her singing (probably 1999) on video.

Hmmm...interesting.  Maybe it's some premie's kid who also lives in Malibu that was named after the original.

"Dayita" is the name of the webpage she's on.  Watch when it's loading and you can search the page.

I really don't know if it's her or not.  Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. It's just that she doesn't look at all like Daya in the videos I've seen with her singing with her boobs hanging out in front of her father, but that's quite a few years ago. Maybe she dropped a lot of weight.  She looks a lot like her father and grandma Mata Ji -- that body shape going, thick in the middle (which you can't see in the photo).  She's a talented singer, I'll give her that.

Prem Rawat's kids don't interest me in the least anymore. They're just a bunch of rich spoiled brats living off the fat of premies past and present.

That is kind of a "duh," no? Wow...... like man, I certainly know that there is the possibility that there is potential for a probablility that I might, no matter how slight the opportunity, become an axe-murderer....... maybe, sometime, sort of, in my own time and space, within myself....

Although Daya is taller than 5'2", and I don't think she is a Capricorn. More like 5'6", I would guess and I thought she was born in June. Might be wrong about that, though.

. . . if her birthday isn't Dec. 30th then I guess not.  I made the connection because she is a Malibu premie with friends like Manuel Iman's daughter and some guy named Jeff saying he wanted to meet Prem Rawat.  She has the appropriate shading and I thought her surname was divulged.  However, my commentary still holds.

A perceptive post Dr Wow and I so agree with you as regards the contrast between the "normal" life his  adult children are leading compared with the divine train-wreck that was often my own life at their age.

The affluent lifestyle that they have been able to have ,thanks to my and all the other premies donations and the unpaid work we did for their father ,must help.

Their lifestyle has been in stark contrast with that of many premies who were brainwashed into believing that worldly wealth was illusion and gave theirs to the lord.( as we sang so often in Arti "Mine ,Thine,Wealth Health; Give them to the lotus feet of love,Give them to the lotus feet of the Lord" ).

Nevertheless,I am sure they are charming people and hope they appreciate the privileged circumstances that the generosity of premies allowed them to have.

It would appear that Navlata, Prem's niece is ( rather successfully) making her own way in life ,at a distance from the cult.

It does occur to me that Rawat has to be answerable now to his doubtless intelligent, adult children and maybe that is one of the reasons he suddenly needs to be seen to be doing good works;feeding the hungry, sending help to disaster areas, opening eye clinics etc

Checking out the Cool-chill link:  the "ideal for party events" slideshow is pretty insipid - what I imagine Marolyn's "Chocowits" - messages in the belgian chocolates - must be all about.

The video short "A New Dawn" is not the new yawn I thought it was going to be - an interesting collage of shots and some slick editing there.
