Believe in my beliefs because they are right. We do like to cling to our doctrines. Tempora, sounds as though you had an enlightened father. My father was into poetry, had explored a plurality of religions, and by the time I was born had decided that religion was indeed the opiate of the masses and was an atheist. Think I was lucky there too. We do seem to be products of our parents. The sins of the fathers..... There is such a strong tendency to want to be right. Let go of that, and what do we have? The uncertaintly that makes us open yet vulnerable. Trusting yet wary. Tunes us to our primal senses. Oh god, don't let me want to be right. There I go again, I cannot completely rid myself of the god concept. Maybe that is because I cannot do without the concept of absolute certainty that a concept of a god represents. Do you think god is time? When I was driving through the Australian desert I had this fantastic revelation about time. That in fact time is the only constant, and it is everything else that is changing . Passage of time is a subjective illusion, in fact we are passing by time, probably orbiting time, in some kind of cyclical pattern that has harmonics to give us those feelings of deja vu. Evolution is therefore not linear, we are spiralling around and therefore making only small distance with a lot of miles travelled so to speak. Our next evolutionary step is probably towards an objectivity of self, our own nature. I think we will have to instantiate a lot of integral changes to achieve this. This has absolutely nothing to do with the cult, but it is far more interesting. |
