Yeah public humiliations is a cool trick, but you got to have the suckers believe you are doing it for their own good as well as being a completely selfless and loving act on your part.  It helps if you also believe that -  helps, but it ain't essential.

But you need to go even further.  It would help if you could come up with some nu-age phsycobabble stuff about what you offer has some concrete scientific basis. Maybe something about an inner current being a kind of space plasma.  Yeah that will get the punters really going.  And if any skeptical person comes along and says you are spouting nonsense you can easily turn the tables on them and demand that they prove that such a thing does not exist. Your punters will really love that as they know that your detractors could never prove a negative which then, in your punters eyes, will prove that you are indeed divine.  At the very least you would feel a great sense of self importance. And remember no one would dare point out to you your illogical nature, thereby even creating a greater sense of self importance.  That helps!

But how about writing a book about thetans and stuff and from there forming you own religion?  Oops, that has already been done.  But why knock something like that, it worked before, just don't use the word 'thetan' and you will have a clear ride, and avoid any cruising legal actions.

Oh by the way, I would not bother with the indian names and all that eastern shit.  It is so um, sixties if you know what I mean.  Best to call yourself something really simple, like Smith, or maybe Cohen.  You don't want to alienate the youth do you?  They are after all the leaders of the future and you got to look at when you grow old and still need a following.  You ceratinly don't want all your followers to be the same age as you.  Surely?  Some younger ones won't go amis.  And also remember the younger they are the .....  nah, lets not go there!
