Yes, I remember in the late '90s one of his favorite stories to tell was about the woman in a knowledge session who said, "I didn't feel anything." and M says to her, "You didn't feel anything?" she says, "No." and he says, "Nothing? Not anything?" Then she smiles and says, "Oh!" After that story, of course the whole auditorium laughs that knowing laugh and applauds.
I look back now and see how intimidating that must have been. And how bullying in many ways. I wonder how long after that she "gave it a chance." I can hear her 20 years later, feeling an itch on her arm (which is what she 'really' felt during the knowledge session) and a big smile comes to her face as she thinks she is experiencing the purpose of her life. A friend asks her what knowledge feels like and she says, "this awsome itch on my arm and when I scratch it, I feel sooooo good!!"
