I have talked to andries personally and i can tell you he is a nice guy. what is so confusing about this, is that andries has adapted his work at wikipedia with such intensity as if he shifted his former engagement in SSB to wikipedia with the NPOV as his ethic's top.
So whatever result happens at wikipedia with all the collaboration of hobby editors, pseudo scholars, he has to give it some meaning, because it fills an important part of his life. the shooting at him by jossi fresco and zappaz that have reached a destrucive level of deception, have left their scars and the kind of argumentation with ignoring those arguments that cannot be disproved, is a symptom that points into this direction.
Overcoming a cult means to become able to stand for yourself without such replacement, at least working on it. Something where at least i have to look at myself. the less i need forum8, the more useful i can be to it, from a NPOV so to say......

ps.: i really do not believe in that NPOV thing at wiki. almost every skilled editor uses it to push his POV in a deceptive way
