Despite the cost, once again my beloved friends go back to rent an expensive tent. iT HURTS, I won't lie, but , oh well, what can you do?

How much is an expensive tent this time around? Assume you're talking about Amaroo.

My God.....Can't wait to hear attendance numbers.... being a tall cult member, I always avoided going to the Australian cult compound due to the long flight in the cattle car.......was able to convince myself HE understood

A premie friend was desperately trying to convince me to go. It was the first time I actually had any significant money saved up and I just didn't want to lose it.
And now look at those prices!!! Holy cow. Being a devotee of the Living Lard is a rich man's hobby.

So so glad to be out of this madness!
How I remember the havoc it created...The addiction. The fabricated need to go to these stupid events. How it kept me from building a reasonable life.
I am very sorry for those who are still his preys. But very happy to be free from such nonsense.
This guy destroys people' s lives, their integrity, their commonsense.
Even though I am now free from this, it did impact my life very poorly with long term consequences. I do not like Rawat.

Yes, we are lucky to be out.
|
|
|
do we know how long the event is - I am assuming these are prices for the full event and not per day.
I wonder if 'Swagman' has to bring their own swag!
|
|
|
the price is for the whole event, it doesnt say what the registration fee is which is separate, not sure how long it is? swag man have to bring everything, that price is for the piece of dirt to put your tent, and they are miles away from it all so better be fit
|
|
|
Okay so swagman gets a place to put up his tent, and presumably access to an amenities block for $300. But he has to be fit enough to walk long distances and hope it doesn't get too hot. Fab!
The hotel at Boonah might be cheaper and easier. I remember staying there once and having to stay in bed for a day because I'd got heat-exhaustion the day before. It was a nice place.

I stayed there once too. The ridiculous lengths we went to, as if he had anything to offer in reality from a semblance of closeness, which was never really close anyway. My poor kids waiting at home,no contact, no cell reception. Me with my head in the sand and my heart precariously in the hands of a total stranger who never even knew my name. Seriously, was I mentally ill?

I have been talking to this person. He always knew he was gay, his first inklings coming around the age of 6 but he kept it secret til he was in his 40's. He describes himself as becoming highly narcissistic, and he was horrible to his wife in particular from the sound of it. But now that he has confessed and started dealing with the reality of himself, he is in recovery from the narcissism and really he does strike me as genuine in this. Very unusual.
He reckons secrets are highly toxic, the worst for the person making them. To me that is a major corroboration when he is saying it - same view from both sides of the fence.
It is not mentally ill to believe a person, it is damaging if they are deceptive about who they are tho.
None of us want to trade places with Rawat, do we.
The more it goes on - the premies on his 'he loves me, he loves me not' merry go round, the more ground they give to him of their own.

In more ways than one.I paid a lot of money to sleep in an ordinary tent and for the privilege of cleaning the loos! The tent was uninhabitable after about 8 am.
I experienced a whole flood of drips there and not just due to the extreme heat. Watching all the managers totally fried and freaking out. So much petty power play and jostling for position. The absurd premies behaviour in Daya's fine dining, all the PAMs smoking cigars, the carniverous diet, the woman whose service it was to massage and pamper the fatted calf for his Lordship's barbecue, the sneaky instrumental 'arti' the proper full on Darshan, the stretch limos picking up the major donors at the airport whilst we mere mortals were crammed in the back of a pick up, the old friend who couldn't even greet me because she was so upset by some bad publicity. The palpable fear everywhere... I could go on and on. This was 1997 and I was out within a year or so. I managed to enjoy it only because of the extraordinary wild life and the amazing presence of those twin peaks and a few decent people with a sense of humour. Especially the guys who came to empty the sewerage tanks.
There was a whole load of shit there..

Never went there. Never wanted to. Sounds like the politics, classism, and premie abuses reached its all time peak low there, with folks jocking for position, closeness to the lotus hooves, prestige, and whatever the else goes on in that god-forsaken wasteland.
I can't imagine planning a trip to Australia from Vermont to pay that kind of money to live in a tent. Not my idea of a vacation.

it was sort of a spiritual "portlandia".

I seem to torture myself by re-reading most of the "Journeys" I am happy that I did tell the husband" I hope you have fun" It was sad to hear him say"we might be both job-hunting" after this trip. They retired last year.
