I was down the rabbit hole looking for something. Mostly I am looking for things relating to premie kids.

This was an interesting change

February 1979... seems to imply kids still being brought through Darshan

https://www.prem-rawat-bio.org/dlm_pubs/pamphlets/denver79.html

"On darshan day, all parents with children are asked to sit in sections R and RR through C and CC so that they can go through darshan first. (It may be a good idea for families to return to hotels for a nap and dinner after darshan, as this will be a long day for children.)"

Kissimmee 1979- discouraging it. Not banning it. Don't force them.

DARSHAN. If we are invited to go through darshan, everyone is requested to remove their shoes before entering the line. Socks, however, should be worn. Aspirants and newcomers are asked not to go through the darshan line. Parents are encouraged to leave their children with someone else. Please remember that children should not be forced to go through darshan or to do pranam.

CHILDCARE. Children's World (for kids 0-7) will be open from 9 am until the end of each night's program. Parents are encouraged to arrange assistance from a friend to supervise the children, since each child must be accompanied by an adult. This facility will offer many activities, including arts and crafts, a nap tent, and evening videos. A concessions tent in Children's World will open at 9 am, offering food and personal items to parents of children 0-7 exclusively.

SUMMER CAMP. A resident summer camp, open to children 8-14, will offer 24-hour care. The registration fee of $55. (payable at the camp gate) includes food, tent space, (not sleeping bags) and activities for the duration of the festival. A day and evening camp will also be open for kids 8-14 in the same area as the resident summer camp. Hours will be strictly enforced: 9 am - 4 pm and 7:30 pm - end of the evening program. Two dollars in food tickets (for lunch) will be collected daily from each child upon arrival.

Hi Gunther's mom!!! So glad you and the new arrival are doing well.

I just wanted to mention in regard to premie parents and their kids, that anyone who ever did security in darshan lines could see the dilemma premie parents were in.

They were told that each darshan removed 10 years of karma, or something like that, and that one should never miss the opportunity to kiss the feet of the living god, which is what BM portrayed them to be. So, there was the dilemma. Premie parents felt they SHOULD, for the good of the KID, bring them to programs and darshan and to the lotus toes. Despite how the kids got treated and abused, often, at those events.

I recall standing for hours doing security in darshan lines. The parents went through first, many of them literally dragging their kids kicking and screaming up to BM, sitting there in all his overweight glory, and having their kids (sometimes really LITTLE kids) kiss his feet.. They stood in line, sometimes for hours, and the kids often had no idea what was going on, and they could also feel the intensity of their parents that something really IMPORTANT, that they didn't understand, was going on. I could only describe it as child abuse, in many cases. It was very sad and bizarre.

Then there was child care at programs. That was another level of hell that others can describe.

Also, in the 10 years I was a premie I don't recall BM talking about children, other than his own, at all, except I recall one derrogatory comment that premies were having TOO MANY kids. Maybe since 1983 he has said some stuff that Red Heels has quoted, but it was pretty late it coming, if it came at all.

Thanks, Susan, that's nice of you to say.

Obviously, I don't know if 'nothing' was done to protect kids from Jagdeo. I mean something might have been done that I didn't know about. But clearly, if anything was done it wasn't MUCH and clearly, like everything else scandalous in Maharaji's world, it was hushed up, ignored, and shoved under the carpet. The same was true when Parlokanand was found molesting little boys and some of the other mahatmas were taking advantage of female premies. Not to mention Fakiranad and his hammer.

Dear J.W.,

Someone needs to make a list of all these alleged sexual abuse cases. This is a new one to me. When did the alleged abuse take place to 'young boys'?

I would also like to get in touch with Patty - the 'sister' that was 'brutally raped' by a 'mahatma'.

If Patty is too upset to come forward maybe her premie sister might. Jim can you do anything about this?

Liz

It was pretty much common knowledge among the premies that Parlokanand had a real problem with little boys. The premies I knew were all aware that he had been a child molester. But he was discovered and then he was defrocked and sent to San Antonio where I was living in the ashram and he wasn't allowed to give satsang and they made him wash cars for his service. After awhile, he was sent back to India, I think, and I don't know whatever happened to him.

I'm pretty sure I received knowledge from Parlokanand.
