I've been out of the loop with what's been going on here lately, so I don't know if much has been said about Maharaji's cable broadcasts called "Words Of Peace" that I stumbled on this evening while flipping through the channels. What a surprise that was. Apparently, for how long I don't know, I get to see Maharaji every Wednesday night on public television on one of my local channels. It's basically a video presentation that's televised, with some cuts to premies testifying how Maharaji saved them, or openned their eyes, or whatever; did something for them that they're all aglow about.

Tonight's theme was "thirst" and how Maharaji is the guy who can quench that thirst. Well, maybe for some other guy, but I went to the lawd's well for 18 years and came up empty. All my fault I'm sure. At least that's what I've been told. Whatever. It doesn't really matter anymore. I figure, if there really is this thirst that was instilled in us since birth, it must have been put there by God, and I'll assume God is the one who quenches it, that being the case, but since Maharaji isn't God anymore, it's interesting as to how he can still quench a thirst instilled by God. Just one of those things that makes you go "hmmm", I guess.

Anybody else had the pleasure of M in their living room, lately?

In San Francisco at least, the Rawat cult has a half hour on a community access channel, I think on Thursday afternoon.  Idoubt PBS would put Mr. Rawat on the air.  Dr. Andrew Weil in a second, but not the former Lord of the Universe, I don't think.

There are lots of other cult leaders who also have shows on the same station (channel 29 in San Francisco), and there is also a show on atheism, one on the leather community, and one for transvestites.  Almost anybody can get something on cable access.  Considering the millions Rawat gets from his devotees, and given the lavish way he lives, one might think the cult could afford to actually pay for some kind of media that might reach more than a tiny handfull  of people, but then, hey, the Lord works in mysterious ways.

There is a show called "Words of Peace with Prem Rawat" on cable acess channel 29 in San Franciso at 7 PM on Mondays.  It's preceeded by a show called "Kung Fu Hustle," and before that "The Light of the Kaballah."  Following Rawat's gig is a show called "Making Him Known," a Christian show, a show called "Goat Dreams," followed by what appears to be a conspiracy theory show called "9/11 Cover-up."

Other cults also have shows on this channel, including Gangaji, Eli, Master Ching Hai, Fawn Wolf, and something called "Jagad Guru Speaks," and also Rahamadeye.  That cult leader Andrew Cohen is on all the time, it seems. The Bahais have a couple of shows too.

Anyhow, you get the drift.  Plus, the cult does, from what I have seen, ZERO advertising for its show, so unless you are kind of flipping through cable access, you would never know it's there.

Plus, let's face it, Rawat ain't cute no more, and doesn't look that great on TV.  He badly needs an eye lift, for one thing.  It's kind of shocking considering what he used to look like.  Also, he obviously needs some exercise.  He looks like Mao.

It was on a local cable station called Queens Public Television. It's limited to residents of the Queens borough of NYC. It's rather obscure. Nobody gets it but people in Queens. Maybe he's got something else going on in the other 4 boroughs too. I wouldn't know. It was just a big surprise when I saw it. I wonder if the guy knows how full of shit he is. "You've got the thirst, I can quench it." My ass. Just because he's a wet rag doesn't mean he can quench thirst.
