Looks like we're going to broadcast ex-premie desert island discs on Sundays at 5pm (gmt).First one this week, guest week 1 - hamzen Jethro Cadbury, who was a premie from 1973 to 1997 based in the UK, will do the jock spot this week with me as a guest, the following week he will be the guest, and I'll be jocking. To listen to the show, go to http://www.shoutcast.com
Search radio stations for 4amzen, download the playlist file, and play the file, you are then connected.
Works in iTunes (available for both mac and pc) and win amp (a free multi media player with independent tv stations to view as well).
You can send live feedback to hamzen2002 on yahoo messenger during the show Format:
The guest will be picking 8 tracks of significance for them in their life, listening to them and then discussing them, they will also choose a book to take with them, and a luxury item, and talk about those as well. This will go out weekly if enough people are up for being guests. If anyone is interested in being a guest let me know. What is required from the guests:
they need to have eight tracks on their computer, and let me know the track listing in advance of recording (or going live),
or if someone wants to do a guest spot but doesn't have a powerful enough computer for live chat it could be done in written format, and read out by me, again I would need to know the track listings in advance. If you're not sure if your computer is powerful enough but would like a guest spot anyway, contact me anyway and I'll give technical support.
It would obviously be more interesting with live voices. Re rawat, you can talk about as much as you want or as little. All guests will be ex-premies or regular posters to this forum. The weekly mariachi brothers show, with me and occasional guests dj'ing, carries on after xpdid at 6pm (gmt) Music policy:
lots of brazilian, old skool and modern, 60's psychedelic/psychedelic folk, some jazz (eg miles davis 60's stuff), but mostly dance based stuff such as atmospheric drum'n'bass, downtempo trip-hop, chilled jazzy soulful house and trippy world dance fusion beats like Mercan Dede.

Sounds excellent, and I look forward to listening to it. One question though. I won't be near a computer tomorrow at 5pm, so can I listen to it later on in the evening?
|

|
If it's not up on Sunday anyway, we're not sure yet if we're gonna do it live or record it beforehand.Obviously if it's live, and then straight into my dj'ing slot I could be pushed getting it online that evening,
I'm a bloke remember, I can't do multi-tasking But even if it's live, we'll still be recording it, and hopefully keep the archive online and available if this runs.

....I will listen on Sunday....but I do worry about being a techno-dunce.....You make a kind effort to explain things but I still don't always understand and I don't have a man around to show me.......
(but I can multi-task)

Know how intimidating it, or was that IT, or even "it" (to keep it on topic ) can be.I taught IT to people with learning disabilities, so I'm quite patient Don't be afraid to ask, no judgements this end, yeah. And by the way,
this is'll new to me too,
exploring and learning,
has got to be good. And thanks for the support from peeps, appreciated.

HEARING YOU LOUD AND CLEAR HAMZEN
and is that Jethro ?
Good sound...but Jethro a bit too loud , close to mike ( ooh!)causing interference.
A bit of clunking of equipment close to mike. Reminded me of the kind of sound system in local programmes in the early eighties
Love it!

|
|
.....that was a good trick!...you've switched roles.... Must congratulate Jethro's " smooth for the ladies " radio voice....and love your sweet story
And music choice , Hamzen xx
Brill way to get to know the idiots posting on this forum !
Thanks.Love it !
Just realized , I didn't read Hamzen's original post about this properly and I had assumed that Jethro going to be the guest and ....nice surprise, it's Hamzen.....

Why the hell rawat hasn't set up something like this is beyond me, oh I forgot, premies aren't allowed to talk about their experiences We'll technically get better over time, lots of ideas

I really enjoyed it...it was like you'd come round to mine!
I was trying to give you helpful feedback...not criticising in a negative way.It was Hamzen that was a bit too loud and distorted now and again. No matter....loved the words Hamzen.
I think it's a great idea with a great format. Once Jethro has been " the Guest " I think he should stay presenter as he is a "natural". Has he done that before?
I think you could change your "description" re Shoutcast , from "down tempo Brazilian" to simply " chill" or a category within the "style of music" quick search facility.
According to the Shoutcast " stats" I think you had 5 listeners....but I'm not sure if I understood that bit correctly.
Can I have a signed photo, please?
I'm still listening

Hi Lexy,
Twas an interesting experience
And thanks for the feedback, is all good.
Don't think Jed has ever done anything like that, although in a way we should all have some ability with all those years of satsang, he was also a lecturer later on Re the shoutcast listings, on the 2 weeks so far you're right, although I've also played a lot of drum'n'bass, but that's mostly because I haven't got my mixer to link in with shoutcast yet, so I can't monitor the next track without the listeners hearing as you can on decks, and have only been into brazilian stuff for a couple of years, so not confident enough about the tracks yet except the stuff I know in my sleep.
As soon as I link in with my mixer will get a lot more eclectic, and brazilian Re the shoutcast stats, you read it right, we hit a peak of 6, with an average listening time of 2.25 hours, which is a promising start. But it's been a real learning curve technically which is always good.

"Don't think Jed has ever done anything like that"Yes I have. Micheal Parkinson gave me 25 minutes on his radio show to talk about the Steiner school that expelled my daughter because we made a complaint about coprporal punishment praticed in their kindergarden in Balham. But lecturing, is like rawat-type-satsang . It is only one-way. The speaker 'lectures' and is not ineterested in listening to any of the listener because he knows, he knows it all Yes I enjoyed lecturing :>)

I just caught the last 10 minutes. Well done Hamzen and Jethro, it was really great listening in to your little chat at the end. I hope I can catch the whole show at some point. May be Hamzen you could advise how to access your archived shows?Thank you!

http://iridescent-motion.net/mike/xpdid/xpdid_1_hamzen.MP3Right click and save as, if you want a copy of it on your hard drive, double click just to listen and have it stream, and start playing within a couple of minutes.
Any feedback from those on dial-up or older machines, please let me know if it streams ok or not. The file size is 36 mb,the file is one hour 20 minutes long, which on a dial up will take approximately 45 minutes (that's a 56k dial-up)to download.
