I noticed that whenever Rawat is asked about other meditation practices, and gurus, (in his easy, self-picked question cards, as we said in earlier posts, Rawat never allows for an open forum of questions and answers on the spot)he is always so vague. He must know that other gurus who make the same, or similar claims, are teaching the same techniques with some variations. I guess the only thing unique about Rawat, besides his being a cultist and fake, is that he does not cover very many techniques, and also he avoids mantras. He is also the only one I know of who detaches his self completely from his Hindu background (TM tries to detach themselves but still openly uses Hindu terms in their teachings) while in the USA and Europe but then goes back while in India. I guess Louis Farrakhan, though in his case Muslim, does a similar strategy by saying one thing as a Nation of Islam spokesman in the USA, and then acts as a Sunni Muslim when visiting Islamic countries.

Rawat is vague about pretty much anything he can get away with being vaugue about - he doesn't offer anything more than the minimum that he's forced to, to achieve his own ends.

His early mission was defined by his father's inheritance - in that he was 'satguru' - and all other Guru's were false. The parable of the 'ants and snake' was frequently told ( Guru is out walking with disciples - they come across a hoard of ant's attacking a snake -the Guru says  "There, that snake was a false guru in his last life - and the ants were his disciples").

When Rawat found the religious stuff was a constriction on his own life, he didn't think through the consequences of the changes he made when dumping (IMO he basically didn't care) For the old time premies the snake and ants ethos still applies - they just don't mention it, but of course if Rawat isn't religious, isn't  'the one' - he has to acknowledge (just occasionaly) that there are other 'teachers'. But Rawat isn't interested in what they teach - only in dealing with them  as an unwanted distraction from the focus being on him.

It's not true to say the Rawat 'avoids' mantras - the words 'so hung' were formerly offered as an assistance with concentration in practicing the breath technique - although this is no longer the case. Again IMO, Rawat would happily give up selling the meditation as part of his schtick if he could hang on to his following and keep the income stream bubbling through. There's no sign he has ever used the meditation himself and I don't think he believes in it as anything more than part of his product range of  'TV Dinner' enlightenment.

Hello Hussain,

Rawat's presented lineage(which started with Shri Dayal ji) is from the Rahdasoami lineage which is not considered Hindu or Sikh by adherents, although many of the Rahdasoami Gurus dress Sikh.

A good book I read called "Radhasoami Reality" by Mark Juergensmeyer gives a good understanding of where Rawat's belief system came from. The book is writen by an academic who is not affiliated with any guru.

It especially deals with the development of 'the one and only Perfect Master' concept(which incidentally I embraced hook line an sinker).
It also deals with the convoluted history of the 'Masters'.
Rawat's split with his brother Satpal, seems to have happend all through history.

Like Farrakan uses the name of Islam, Rawat used(uses?) the external trappings of Hinduism and Sikhism to attract Hindus and Sikhs, but actually he is being disingenuous.

Regards

Jethro

I was wondering if anyone saw the web site article at http://ad.doubleclick.net/adi/N3466.NYPost.com concerning "Swami" Bhaktipada who got out of jail for stealing money in his fundraising, and also was accused of being behind a murder. He was ousted from the Hare Krishnas when he started teaching his own doctrines, etc. Anyway, I was surprised at how this man can make a "come back" right away... he was just released from jail in June.
I guess that Rawat would always have some followers if this guy can do it.
