The picture is actually of "Little Suck-a-thumb". Boy, did those Victorians know how to terrify their children! All these epiphanies! If you ever feel like talking about them, I'll listen. (BTW, I much prefer the word "realisation". In fact I wrote a poem once called "Realisation". I was so chuffed with it, I sent it off to the "Guardian Weekend" magazine, and - they published it!)
