I've discussed this recently with a long term premie and we agreed, at least in Australia, that the proportion of committed followers - those prepared to contribute financially regularly and/or do regular service - to those along for the ride when it suits them was closer to 1:4.

Also, at least in Australia where overseas flight costs aren't a problem, poor premies are allowed into events at Amaroo for free or at most a token contribution - the most they think they can afford.
