Watching the news feed all morning, seeing various places I lived threatened or in flames in the fires spread now of some 14,000 acres...

The huge S. California wildfire is running before the Santa Anas, the high seasonal winds, and just overnight it has come over the mountains in lots of places and is descending toward the Malibu coast at Zuma Beach. The Rawat residence seems just about right in the path and is now under huge smoke clouds covering the mountains up and down the coast; it seems the residence is near where KTLA News live is reporting some houses have been burning, though it's unclear exactly where.

The KTLA live camera feed view from a helicopter flying above Malibu shows the sky black with those vast smoke clouds extending for miles right above the Santa Monica Mountains' ridge above Zuma and extending down over the beach and way on north toward County Line and Camarillo. ...north beyond Kanaan Road you can't see the coast or mountains or anything but the huge dark smoke clouds.

Not to mention all the fire damage inland already all around Agoura, Calabassas, Westlake Village, Oak Park, and Thousand Oaks (Malibou Lake mostly burned up it seems)... much of Malibu is under forced evacuation orders. The highway out, PCH, is jammed, causing something like 3 hours to get out to Santa Monica to the south, and it's closed northbound to Ventura County.

But they're saying the high winds may be dying down now and onward. Still it's uncontrolled burning all around all those places just now.

...seems every 5 years or so, now a repeat...much like this when I lived there and several times had to run in the middle of the night to evacuate from the wildfires.
