I'm so sorry to hear of your affliction : that must be something which it's really hard to come to terms with.
I too was diagnosed with Glaucoma some yrs ago now, have sometimes wondered along the same lines myself, & have said so on these forums, but there was never a response. I take that to mean that no-one else who posts here has it, or knows anything much about the general subject (of possible eye damage caused by the light tech)
As you'll know, Glaucoma is essentially a defect where part of the mechanism wears out early, allowing pressure to build up behind the eyeball: it has an inheritable genetic factor. Various members of my extra large and Celtic family had it, ( it is prevalent amongst this particular racial group for some reason) & so I thought I'd get a check up.
Studies done into the effects of external pressure on the eye are very difficult for the layman to decipher, & not easy to find in the 1st place. This is because the only people who are affected by such a thing in their daily lives are mainly professional divers, fighter pilots, astronauts, submariners etc.
It's a very specialised line of medical enquiry, & not one which one could reasonably expect a 'civilian' practitioner to be up to speed on either.
The general consensus is that it's a very bad idea, & in fact my Consultant Ophthalmolgist, the last time I was able to see him, was forceful on this point. Unfortunately there wasn't time to go into why I was asking him, or indeed why he thought so.
There have been various vague speculations that the reason Rawat started having K reviews in the '80's, where he emphasised the importance of the 'light touch', was because he'd been threatened with a lawsuit over eye damage. If true, this is much more likely imo to have been a detached retina or something like that, than Glaucoma, which only reveals itself slowly.
The answer to your question is ..........I don't know, & I don't think anyone else (else, as in medical profession) does either, but like you, I wonder.
All the best to you.

Thanks, empathy back to you as well. I hear that high intelligence is a risk factor as well
My particular condition is Pigmentary Glaucoma, a very mechanical condition of loosened pigment clogging the plumbing. Fortunately the new lasers can be used over and over to good effect and I may be able to keep sight in one eye for the balance of my life.
Cheers!

What about them, smartarse. Please put (nt) in front of an empty post, if you haven't got anything other than an idle thought to contribute.

Your response seems inappropriately confrontational and insulting unless smart-arse is a term of endearment in your home town. The subject was Knowledge induced medical problems and I asked the questions to see if anyone responded.
I'm sorry but the question didn't seem to require repeating in the body of the text and I thought that the (NT) was automatically created by the Forum.
3 premies that I know have told me they have tinnitus. It seems to me that the increased pressure in the ears over 30 years could well have contributed to that condition. I'm wondering, idly indeed but not OT, if anyone else has come across this.

Yeah, that's better. Now I know what you meant.
Cancel the smartarse.....btw, we don't generally go for the hyphenated version where I live, too many hyphens in the damned name as it is.

While I am not an MD, I do know what causes tinnitus..... I have it. Actually, as strange as it may sound, plugging your ears may ward it off. Damaged nerve cells are the real issue, so protecting your hearing is the best way to avoid it.Way too many boom-booms in my history, so I have it. When I hunt, I wear hearing protection. There are other potential causes...... like some antidepressant drugs are oto-toxic. The side effect, of course, would be tinnitus. I think listening to the ringing in your ears certainly makes you more aware of it, so it might "appear" to be getting worse, when all it is is your concentration. But, that is subjective, so I can't really comment on that.

Obviously my sample group is pretty small but thanks for the information.

If, by sticking your fingers in your ears, you were to create a vacuum that is released with "some violence" as in popping your ear drums when removing the digits.... THEN, I would think that you could damage your ears in the same manner as anything that causes your eardrum to move violently. So my caution, to those using that technique, would be to gently remove your thumbs (or whatever) from the ear canal to ensure that you don't do that. But that should be common sense, so I am probably stating the obvious. Tinnitus sux, quite frankly.

I have had tinnitus on occasion. It is so annoying. Did you ever hear the myth that when a premie's ears ring, Maharaji is thinking about you? It went around back in the day. I hung out with waaay too many gopis! Some antidepressant meds definitely can cause tinnitus (among many other things) as a side effect. I wouldn't rule out practicing premies being on them, but keeping it secret because of by Maharaji's current anti-mental illness attitudes and stigmatization.

UH, oh..... maybe I'm missing that grace! Maybe I'm missing that love. Maybe I'm missing that joy. Maybe I'm missing that peace. Maybe I'm missing that experience. Maybe I'm missing that life........Maybe I'm saying maybe too much! Maybe I don't care

most of the premies who work in the UK HQ are on disability benefit for mental illness!!! Ergo - convince the government that you are mad and they pay you so that you can do service to the 'living lord'. This is true.

Falcon, Are you talking about some of the full-time EV-UK staff being on mental illness disabilities? That's very interesting and kind of sad, given what Prem Rawat says about people with mental illness these days. Based on that, those premies wouldn't even be eligible to get the Keys or Knowledge nowadays.

yes, that is what I was told by a premie who knows them. Ref The Keys - they must be prohibited from watching them (LOL)

And what about those who can't forget Holy Name, are with it 24/7. Could they sue? It's hard to do much else when you have so-hung going on all the time.

...silent thousands, lakhs, chrores......... ...who are just sensually, physically, metaphysically, experientally.... disorientated.... ....confused about who they are, who they belong to, where and what they are, how they got here, and where they're going, and what they should be doing here or there, if that's where they're going ..when they get there.? .. and what just happened? ... wondering: is it their fault?..... alienated and alone in a foreign universe .. jackknifing guiltily out of nightmares into lotus posture in their sleep ... slumping back troubled and still guilt ridden.. deep in their subconscious minds... ......not sure if they can believe their own eyes, ears, etc... or plain scientific evidence.... anymore ..........Total and particular sympathy btw with anyone suffering actual medical, diagnosable damage.......

Hi Steve! I remember hearing one story about a premie who, when they were being shown the techniques, had so much pressure applied to the eyeballs that he went blind! As I remember, it was Padarthanand who was in hot water about this--but it could just have been hearsay and I don't personally know who, what, where etc. Maybe it was just one of those stories, although it's hard to fathom what the motive could be in inventing such a thing. ~Shelagh
