The guy in the brown sweater that looks like a girl.  That's me!

No, just kidding.  (Watch, this will become part of my one-reality.net profile: "embezzler, cross-dresser ..."

Anyway, that was Guru Puja '73, London, wasn't it?  Darshan out just past the large vats of thin potato gruel at in the middle of some -ershire or another.  Touchingly captured in the award-winning film "Who is Guru Maharaj Ji?"  (Subtitled: "That's the Question You Should Ask for the Next Few Years and Then Pretend we Never Brought it Up in the First Place"

That brought a genuine guffaw right from my midsection

Are you sure that isn't you in that pix? LOL!

I know you are a music and legal person...... so I ask you, if I name my band "nihilanand" is that a trademark infringement? Think about it..... snicker

Sorry, I have "anand" on the brain today.

I think I recognise one of the two premies in the centre, The girl on the left: looks a bit like Janet Thurston.
Janet played and sang in a small premie country folk band: the only song I can remember, off hand, one she wrote herself was
"Walk on the sunny side, always on the sunny side!" She hailed from Kansas.

Was she in the "Anand Band"?

No the guy is an Australian premie or ex-premie. Apparently he hasn't been sighted for a while according to my not so deep throat but then we're all not seeing as well as we used to.

I would not have guessed that to be Janet.  I played music with her in Houston and later in Denver.  She was ausome because she played the banjo.  In our band -- even though the other musicians made fun of her (I think they were maybe serious 'rock' musians!).  The guy she married was Robbie Rucker, a sign painter, they had a couple of kids, but I haven't seen nor heard of either one of them for years and years.

..Hi wislan, thanks, I never knew Robbie's actual last name, I guess that was Janet's pet name for him, apologies Janet and Robbie for any indiscretion..... especially if in my dotage I am entirely mistaken on both counts .....

In a poor quality snapshot that comes from a poor quality digitisation that guy in the brown sweater that looks like a girl might look like a guy in the brown sweater that looks like a girl but in the video she looks like an attractive and thoughtful young lady who could easily be the star of one of those Hollywood make-over movies where the plain intellectual non-conformist (think Rachael Leigh Cook or anyone of 100 actresses who've played a similar role) in glasses becomes the hot babe in 1982 when the ashrams are closed and she's sent out into the real world to make a living and dons make-up and wonder-bras.

The handsome dude next to the gal who looks like Jim on estrogen . . . that's not me.  But look closely.  To the left of his mouth:  This is a) a smoke ring, b) an errant light technique donut ring, c) the phantom amputated fourth leg on the three-legged stool of knowledge.

one thing for sure it's definitely not an oval hair braid in the hair of a girl behind... I'd go for b)

If you see the movie then you can tell the oval is in the hair of a girl but in the photo later it appears to hang in space but that space is the same hair.

shame .. I kind of liked the thought of a little flying divine light donut that hovered around one of krishna's upturned digits .. it would be neat wouldn't it?  ... he could point at people .. at their foreheads .. say .. and the little, donut could fly around ... meet up with the big flying sports stadium ... if we all believe it .. maybe we could make it happen.. couldn't we ... its not impossible .. is it?

drove M to this Darshan from woodside avenue. We left at dawn and drove with the sun coming up listening to Santana. I was in heaven, alone with M. We picked up 2 pwks hitchiking and dropped them a mile from the D. Some memories are good.

Good one, Nigel!

You know, you just never know. As strange as it sounds, these folks belong to SOMEONE. I would fully expect that, at some point, some pix will show up that is now someone's wife or hubby.

Too bad, I thought it would be cool.

I just re-read something that made me laugh so hard, I just now stopped, but the intermittent giggles are still arriving.

"If I had a hammer" has to be a true classic! I particularly liked the Rich Neale and Jagdeo portions.... but I have got to tell you that was, is and always will be a classic in the truest sense of the word.

Semi-disceet-pranams to Larkin-ji! You can pass that on for me

Do you have a copy somewhere, NAR, or is it on another webpage?  I'd forgotten even writing that one or how it goes (but I remember the tune - Trini Lopez, isn't it..)

Larkin, it is good to hear from you, sir

Yes, I have a copy and yes, it is on a website. Specifically, the drek site. At any rate, here for you enjoyment...... is the song that you wrote:

(sung to the Trini Lopez version)

Who-oh-oh-oh…
who-oh-oh…

(Fakiranand)

If I had a hammer
I'd play it in the morning
I'd play it in the evening
All over this land..
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out pie-men
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters…
Uh-oh … get me out of this land..!

Who-oh-oh-oh…
who-oh-oh…

(Rich Neale)

If I had a song
I'd pen it in the morning
I'd croon it in the evening
Sounding very unplanned…
I'd cram in too many syllables
And flowery devices…
Like 'something made me feel like I barely understood what a pearl-drop of perfection-gleam could exist in one's eye, but the sparkle of your glance made my heart start to dance while my sky was lit up by a shooting star…a shooting star… What name could I call you, what words could I say that might not turn me into a withering splurt of drivelling cat's piss…?' [Editor's cut]
Who-oh … all over this land…

Who-oh-oh-oh…
who-oh-oh…

(Prem Rawat)

If I had a cult
I'd milk it in the morning
and squeeze it in the evening
My word is their command…
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out warning
I'd blat about love between our brothers and our sisters…
And make sure
They never understand..

Who-oh-oh-oh…
who-oh-oh…

(Jagdeo)

If I had… [Editor's cut]

Who-oh-oh-oh…
who-oh-oh…

(Tout ensemble)

If we had a brain
And used it in the morning
Then maybe by the evening
We'd even understand…
Understand about love
Understand about freedom…
Understand about love between my brothers and my sisters
Who-oh…

[Editor's note: if you want any more you can sing it yourself… Mr Larkin is embarked on a new project.]

I'm pretty certain.

And where my mrs got shown the techniques, and where she 'had the best 4 days of my life', and where in the darshan line there was an evil storm brewing, and just as darshan finished, prem raised his arms to say to the storm, ok you can let rip now, and lo and behold it let rip.

As told to me by her.
