                  I'm sure Temp will write to reassure you, but I think he's just on old romantic poet raging against the darkenss of on coming winter. And the murderous allusion is, if I'm not mistaken a reference to the Buddhist axiom - "if you meet Buddha on the road  - kill him" - all a bit Zen you see.
