You are right, he did try to do the right thing...

but I don`t agree that he was boring.... maybe a bit pompous, yes. Pretentious windbag, well perhaps at times. However, I found his intellect and insightfulness a huge stimulation when I needed it most.

His story is one of the more interesting and it seems he is still full of surprises, as the previous point makes.
