I do think, especially being a Californian, that there is a tendency toward seeing new age movements as inherently benign that may put people at risk and society at risk. I think this is because we want to be culturally tolerant, and while it may be PC to openly critisize our cultures predominant religion, it is not at least among my peer group to critiszie a minority religion especially if it comes from another culture. Also, New Agers to not see what they believe in as a religion at all. I think they are wrong-it is a religous belief. I personally, do not want my kids to be taught New Age beliefs any more than I want the taught any other religion. New Age stuff has seeped into public schools many times ( most recently it sounds like Miami Dade College ) because it is not always recognized as religion.
