The world is full of trickery; one must be careful what one buys; and in whom one places belief. But that is no way lets crooked merchants and propagandists off the hook.

It is wrong -- and I would say depraved, to argue that the individual's responsibility to protect themselves gives a license to others to try to exploit the vulnerable.

There's nothing nice - or even "New Age" about attitudes like that.
