For years, on the Forum (I'm not sure if it's still true now, but I know it always used to be) that many more people read the Forum than post on it, like many times more.

That is certainly the case.  There are many ways of counting visitors (depends on the definition) however to give you a sense of the 'readership' this forum gets here are some brief statistics.  For the twelve month period starting June '04 we have had 7,012,588 'hits' accessing 2,789,862 pages. During May '05 so far we have received 27,177 average hits per day.  This is far far in excess of what the regular posters are capable of.

Also, just in case anyone is interested, the server we are on is capable of handling a multiple (>10x) of actual usage as well as being capable of holding tens more thousands of posts.
