To the Editor:
As I listen to the news daily, I am often overwhelmed by the attention-grabbing headlines. Most of the problems seem removed from our locality and yet we all know that eventually we will feel the impact. There are many overwhelming issues.
The bombings and deaths continue in Iraq. Civil wars are raging in Third World countries with the resulting deaths of millions due to disease and famine. Deaths from viral and bacterial infections are becoming more commonplace. Jobs continue to be outsourced while yet another business closes its doors. Growing environmental concerns increase the need for alternative fuel sources while maintaining the integrity of the land.
There are many rolls that we can play to be a part of the solution. We educate ourselves and our children, grow gardens, get involved in local government, create awareness about health issues, provide classes to improve mental and physical health, and otherwise share political viewpoints in hopes of creating awareness.
Perhaps in doing all that we do, we can feel a sense of doing our part. I know I do many things to be a part of the solution, but there is one solution that can work for everyone. That solution is for people to know that inner peace. Not just a peace that one feels while contributing their part to the solution, but a peace that can be felt in all that we do.
Can you possibly imagine a world that can begin to work on solving its problems? It seems impossible, and yet if we were working on experiencing that inner peace and shared it with all whom we came in contact with É imagine the possibilities!
Yes, we have many differences and we will always have our differences, but we need to celebrate that which we have in common - a need to know that inner peace and contentment. Once we understand that all people everywhere want to know that peace, our efforts could be harmonized to benefit the most people everywhere.
To learn more about finding the peace within, you can listen to Prem Rawat speak on the possibility of peace on Dish Network TV Channel 9602 Sundays at 8 p.m., and Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. Also KATV Channel 7 (Charter Communications Cable) Thursdays at 3 and 8 p.m., Fridays at 8 a.m. On the Web www.contactinfo.net.
