That makes a lot of sense, LAX. 

It seems to me that the only thing that could keep someone going through the inept bullshit of Rawat and his organization, is that if you just persevere through it, you will get the cure, the pill, the simplistic solution to your lack of "whatever."  It's all so vague that people can put their fantasy on what "peace" will be like, or what this most important experience will be, and maybe, just maybe, it will be what they are looking for, to fill whatever lack or insecurity they feel.

So, there may be some small group of people who would be willing to go through the indoctrination, and 70 hours of video to get it.  Rawat seems to try to make them so curious and desperate by the time they are revealed the techniques that they are unlikely to question it, and have gotten lots of practice in never, ever, thinking about, or objectively evaluating whether knowledge or Rawat really do anything for them, are worth it, or whether they actually make their lives more dysfunctional.

But I agree, this will only work for a small number of people, and the pool from which to get them is very small because most premies almost never tell anybody about knowledge or Rawat, and aren't the best examples of a fulfilled person in any event.
