It's Maharaji., He most likely personally approved of shutting that website down, and as usual, he had no consideration whatsoever of the effect it might have on people.
The ultimate example of Rawat doing this was the ashrams. They weren't just a website, or a means of reading and expressing devotion (misplaced though it is), those were institutions that people lived in for a decade or more, and then Rawat just dumped everyone out with no explanation, let alone any kind of support to return to "the world," and certainly no "thank you" for slaving and supporting him financially for years.
So, Annie, I know you are critical of EV, for good reason, but EV is just Rawat, really. Sure there are individuals, but as they say the rot starts at the top, and I'm sure nothing of any significance happens without Rawat's approval.
Also, few years back, Rawat was saying nice things about ELK, and I heard he even had a T-shirt with the website's logo. Now, that's probably just eradictaed from history, like so much else.
