My example about Beethoven's mother was not intended to question the rights and wrongs about advocating (or dissuading someone from) abortion, it was more to do with the fact that, in this example, advice that would be given to the majority might be inappropriate for specific cases, such as this one. Relating that to your analogy about the rules of "Go" raised, for me at least, a disconnect.
I'm not sure it applies to all circumstances, but at least I'm nearer understanding you from the practical example you gave, and thanks for that.
