I believe you are mistaken on this point Jonathan. Rawat absolutely believes in his own myth. But it is not quite so simple. In other words, lurking underneath his huge investment in his pseudo-identity, lies the stark terror of being revealed a fraud, even though he is in fact whatever... Weird I know. Its psychologically very twisted.The identity of sat guru is there, in place, securely, and it is the psychological mechanism which allows him to rationalize and justify his many capricious and even cruel acts. And yet, and yet, there is a rage below the surface that has a huge amount of fear as a trampoline. He must deep down somewhere know, feel, sense, that it could all unravel like the cheap and tawdry drama that it is.
It is kind of fascinating, if you can get past puking. Rawat would be the ultimate field-day for a psychologist.
