You'll have no trouble getting the gist of this Jim:

Here's a couple of pics of me in Florida with (ahem) an actress.
One's strictly black and white. The other has a 256 shades of grey.

Of course, the reality was colour (or more accurately, within the limited bandwidth of light frequencies that my eyes can recognise). I wonder what infra-red would tell us?
